Vice President of African Programs
Ken Appenteng-Mensah is the Vice President of African Programs and joined Edify in August 2013. Before joining Edify, Ken worked for the German International Cooperation (GIZ) managing a project called Innovative Insurance Products for the Adaptation of Climate Change (IIPACC), which aims at facilitating the development and implementation of an agricultural insurance system in Ghana.
Ken is a banker by profession, later specializing as a microfinance expert. He spent a little over three years (March 2007- June 2010) as microfinance specialist with the GTZ/DANIDA Support Programme for Enterprise Empowerment and Development (SPEED) project. He was appointed as Executive Director of Sinapi Aba Trust from 1997-2001 and later became Africa Regional Director at Opportunity International Network, with whom Ken has been associated for many years. He was one of three microfinance experts to be asked to set up Opportunity International Bank of Malawi (OIBM) in 2002 and became the Vice President of Microcredit at the Opportunity International Bank of Malawi (2002-2006).
