Bible League

  • We are using a series called “The Felipe Project -Discovering God” from the Bible League in 11 schools in Santo Domingo
  • The goal is to offer a way of improving Christian teaching apart from just using AMO, so this project is being implementing in schools that are not currently teaching AMO
  • These 11 schools have loans with ASPIRE, an Edify lending partner
  • APRENDI, an Edify training partner, developed a teacher guide for the material complete with lesson plans in order to better equip teachers
  • APRENDI hosted two trainings: 1) Introductory session and 2) In depth session with instruction, practice, and discussion of how to teach the material
  • Felipe Project books were distributed and teaching has begun

AMO

  • There are now nine schools in San Pedro de Macoris teaching AMO for the first time
  • Each teacher attended the AMO training in January hosted by Esperanza-Edify
  • There are about 530 students total in AMO classes as a result
  • We are currently working with the schools offering follow-up support and encouragement

Puerto Plata

  • APRENDI held a teacher training on Christian teaching and effective discipline in the class
  • The training was co-taught by a husband and wife, Karel and Maria, both of whom are APRNEDI instructors
  • There were about 25 participants representing 3 schools
  • It was an excellent training and we heard great feedback from the participants
  • We hope this is the first of many trainings in the Northern region of the country
