We thank God for those of you who are praying for us and with us. You are a blessing.
DR Family Camp- Next week we will be hosting a three-day camp with several families from the US at a school in a Haitian community in La Romana. From the school there will be staff, students and families participating along with the families from the US to paint and lay tile in the new classrooms that were built with a loan from Esperanza. We ask that God would be present with all the participants, working in all of hearts of those involved. May God use us, stretch us and draw us nearer to him as we are united with brothers and sisters in Christ from another nation.
AMO Trainings- We praise God for a great AMO training last week in Santiago. There were 50 school directors and teachers and the week was full of transformation. One participant said, “This training has been the best of any I have attended because without a doubt the Holy Spirit took control of the whole training; he worked in all areas of my life. Never have I seen anything like this, and it is one of the best things I have experienced in my life.”
We pray that God would bless the upcoming trainings in San Pedro next week and in Santo Domingo at the end of this month.
Aprendi Transformational Retreat- We also praise God for the transformation retreat held this week in La Vega. There were school directors and teachers mostly from Santo Domingo for a time of rest and rejuvenation as well as several impactful semenars revolving around Christian education. May God use what was gained there and continue to work in the hearts and lives of these directors and teachers, shaping them into great educators and vessels of His love for the students and families they impact.
Mourning a great loss- Last night Luis Pena, an employee of ASPIRE was killed in car accident. He was in his early thirties, a husband and father of two little ones, an associate pastor in his church, and had already become the Director of Accounting at ASPIRE. Luis was involved in the ASPIRE-Edify program providing reports and accounting as needed by their Director of Finances; he will me missed terribly. We are mourning his death and ask for prayer for his family and for all those he left behind. We will remember and miss his great smile and the joy of Christ he freely shared with those around him. We give thanks to God for the life he lived.
